Meghan Markle may have lost popularity in Britain, but she still holds one significant advantage as she prepares for a bombshell return to the UK next month, according to a royal expert. The Duchess of Sussex will attend the One Year To Go event for Prince Harry's Invictus Games 2027 in Birmingham, marking her first visit to the country in four years.
Meghan's Declining Popularity in the UK
Since stepping down as senior royals in 2020, Meghan's approval ratings in Britain have fallen sharply. She now ranks low in royal popularity polls, often coming just above Prince Andrew. Her last UK visit was in September 2022 for Queen Elizabeth II's funeral.
Expert: Global Recognition Is Key
Veteran royal commentator Richard Fitzwilliams told the Daily Express: "She has one advantage, everyone knows who she is, the press may attack, but there will still be huge coverage." He added that Meghan's schedule remains unknown and she "may well have some unusual plans." Fitzwilliams also noted that Meghan and Harry are closely linked to the Invictus Games and will "maximise this in haste."
Upcoming Visit with Children
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex will bring their two children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, to the UK for the visit. The Invictus Games 2027 will be held in Birmingham, and the One Year To Go event is expected to draw significant media attention.
Hollywood Struggles
Fitzwilliams also commented on Meghan's Hollywood career, stating she "has not been a success in Hollywood." Despite this, her ability to command global media interest remains a key asset as she re-enters the UK public eye.
