Ekitike and Leoni Rally Behind Bajcetic Injury Update

Hugo Ekitike and Giovanni Leoni are among the Liverpool players who have sent supportive messages to Stefan Bajcetic after the midfielder provided an update on his injury recovery.

Bajcetic's Injury Journey

The 21-year-old midfielder has not featured for Liverpool since May 2024, when he played in a 4-2 victory over Tottenham Hotspur. Since then, he has had loan spells at Red Bull Salzburg and Las Palmas, making 14 appearances for the latter in the second half of the 2024/25 season before undergoing hamstring surgery in May last year.

Liverpool have been cautious in managing Bajcetic's return, and he recently shared an update on Instagram. The post included photos and videos of him training individually at the club's AXA Training Centre, wearing Liverpool gear, with the caption: “Back on track.”

Teammates Show Support

Ekitike, who is recovering from a ruptured Achilles, commented: “Back soon brother keep going.” Leoni, recovering from an ACL injury sustained on his Liverpool debut in September last year, replied with a red heart and bicep emoji.

Other teammates also chimed in. Jeremie Frimpong wrote, “My boy,” while Conor Bradley joked: “This explains your first trim in three months.”

Looking Ahead

Liverpool will begin pre-season training next month under new manager Andoni Iraola. It remains uncertain whether Bajcetic will join the squad for friendlies in the United States against Wrexham, Sunderland, and Leeds United.

Meanwhile, the club is preparing for the upcoming Premier League season, with some players involved in the World Cup in North America this summer.
