Liverpool goalkeeper Alisson Becker has suffered a fresh injury setback, compounding the club's growing casualty list. The Brazilian was forced off during the second half of Sunday's Premier League win over Everton after picking up a hamstring problem.
Manager Arne Slot confirmed after the match that Alisson had been taken to hospital, though the injury is not expected to be long-term. 'He has gone off to hospital. It looked to me, and that's also what they told me, that he had a big wound – an open wound. That's of course not going to be a long-term injury,' Slot said.
Alisson himself has offered a more optimistic timeline, stating on social media: 'I didn't suffer a new injury. I'm in the treatment phase, and the plan is to be in full playing condition by the end of April!' The club expects him back towards the end of the season.
Liverpool are already without several key players, including forward Darwin Nunez, who is out for the season with an Achilles tendon rupture. Midfielder Wataru Endo remains sidelined with an ankle problem, while defender Ibrahima Konate missed the Everton game with an unknown issue.
The Reds face Crystal Palace at Anfield on Saturday, sitting fifth in the Premier League table. Slot's side could be missing as many as nine players for the fixture.
