Darren Till Announces Misfits Boxing Departure, Promises Major News
Combat sports star Darren Till has confirmed his exit from Misfits Boxing and teased a significant announcement regarding his future plans. The former UFC title challenger revealed his departure in an Instagram video on Monday, expressing gratitude towards the promotion while hinting at an exciting new direction.
Successful Stint with Misfits Boxing
Darren Till joined Misfits Boxing in January 2025 and quickly established himself as a formidable presence within the promotion. His debut fight resulted in a knockout victory against Anthony Taylor, followed by a decision win over fellow UFC veteran Darren Stewart in May. Till capped his Misfits career with an impressive stoppage of former UFC champion Luke Rockhold in August, ultimately becoming champion during his twelve-month tenure.
The Liverpudlian fighter emphasized that his departure comes on excellent terms with the organization. "I've parted ways with Misfits on really good terms," Till stated. "I'm thankful for the 12 months I had with them and the three fights I had, [where I] became champion. As I said, on extremely good terms, got nothing but love for Misfits and the owners and promoters and stuff like that, and all the people who work behind the scenes."
Challenges and Future Prospects
Till cited difficulties in securing opponents as part of his reasoning for moving on. "Not a lot of people wanted to fight me. It was getting really hard to get fights," he explained. This challenge appears to have prompted his decision to explore new opportunities beyond the boxing ring.
The 33-year-old athlete promised substantial news in the immediate future, telling fans: "In the next few days I'm going to have a massive announcement, some massive news. I'm sure you are all going to be excited to see what I'm going to announce." While remaining cryptic about specifics, Till indicated this represents a fresh professional direction, stating: "It's time to try my hand at something else."
Background and Career Trajectory
Darren Till first gained prominence in the UFC, compiling an undefeated 5-0-1 record between 2015 and 2018 that earned him a welterweight title shot against then-champion Tyron Woodley. That submission loss marked the beginning of a challenging period where Till went 1-5 in his final UFC appearances, suffering defeats to notable fighters including Jorge Masvidal, Robert Whittaker, Derek Brunson, and Dricus Du Plessis.
His transition to boxing proved revitalizing, beginning with a 2024 exhibition knockout of Mohammad Mutie before his successful Misfits campaign. Notably, Till's planned Misfits debut against Tommy Fury was cancelled after Fury withdrew following Till's joking threat to kick the reality television personality.
While Till has previously expressed interest in returning to the UFC, his current statement about trying "something else" suggests his immediate plans may diverge from mixed martial arts. He did leave the door open for future collaboration with Misfits, adding: "I'll probably be back there soon as well. This is not the end of it with Misfits."
The combat sports community now awaits Till's promised announcement with anticipation, as the accomplished fighter prepares to unveil the next chapter of his athletic career following his productive year in professional boxing.
