Eddie Hall will have a significant weight advantage over Tommy Fury when they step into the ring on Saturday night. The former World's Strongest Man weighed in at 325.6lb at Friday's official weigh-in, while Fury came in at 217.5lb – a career-high for the light-heavyweight who started his professional career in 2018.
Weigh-in Drama
The two fighters were initially scheduled to face off inside a plastic cage, with Hall attempting to kick down the dividing wall. However, Fury demanded a traditional face-off, and the pair remained cordial as they shook hands.
The bout will be contested over six two-minute rounds and is classified as an exhibition, not an official fight. The matchup was born out of a heated exchange between Hall and Fury's father, John Fury. Hall explained: "I bumped into John and had a conversation about fighting Tyson. I saw he was training MMA and tried to instigate the fight, but it rubbed him the wrong way. Things got a little heated."
Hall's Motivation
Hall expressed his desire to silence the Fury family: "I'd like to shut your dad up and put you in your place, then maybe I'll get the Tyson Fury MMA fight. Sorry it has come to this, but sometimes men have to settle their differences. This is not a friendly encounter. I want to go in there and prove a point."
Undercard Action
On the undercard at the Manchester Arena, Ibiza Final Boss – real name Jack Kay – will make his boxing debut almost a year after his overnight fame. Kay, known for his unique look, burst into the limelight after being photographed in Ibiza and will face rapper Jordan McCann in his first fight.
