Hamilton Names Senna F1 GOAT, Not Schumacher or Verstappen

Lewis Hamilton has named Ayrton Senna as the greatest Formula 1 driver of all time, overlooking Max Verstappen, Michael Schumacher, and himself. The seven-time world champion made the declaration during a rapid-fire interview with Brazilian social media personality Matheus Gonze in November.

When asked to name the best driver he had ever competed against, Hamilton chose Sebastian Vettel over Schumacher and Verstappen. The 41-year-old praised Vettel as the most all-round driver, highlighting his empathy, competitiveness, and use of his platform for broader causes.

Senna, who died at the 1994 San Marino Grand Prix aged 34, remains an iconic figure in motorsport. Hamilton's choice reflects the Brazilian's enduring legacy, despite Senna's three world titles compared to Hamilton's and Schumacher's seven.

Hamilton's respect for Vettel extends beyond racing. In a previous interview with ESPN, he described the four-time champion as someone who understands the bigger picture and brings people together. Vettel retired from F1 in 2022 and is now a climate and environmental campaigner.
