France's newly crowned champion jumps trainer Mickael Seror is experiencing palpable excitement as he prepares to saddle his first ever runners at the iconic Cheltenham racecourse this Saturday. The Gallic handler has described himself as "jumping around" with joy at this milestone moment in his training career.
A Dream Come True at Prestbury Park
Seror will send two horses to compete on Cheltenham's hallowed turf: Kaline Des Boullat in the Timeform Novices' Handicap Chase and Miss Des Boullats in the JCB Triumph Hurdle Trial. In a strategic move, he has secured the services of talented jockey Bryony Frost for both mounts, leveraging her valuable experience at the track.
Bryony Frost's Cheltenham Connection
Frost brings significant Cheltenham pedigree to the partnership, having famously triumphed in the 2019 Ryanair Chase aboard her beloved Frodon during the Cheltenham Festival. Since relocating to France in 2024 to become retained rider for leading owners Simon Munir and Isaac Souede's French string, Frost has become a rare sight at Prestbury Park, making this weekend's appearance particularly noteworthy.
The jockey has enjoyed Seror's support on the continent, with the French trainer now delighted to call upon her local knowledge as he makes his British jumps racing debut. "Bryony knows both horses and she has won on board both of them and she knows the track well, obviously, so it's great to have her ride," Seror explained.
Breaking Championship Dominance
Seror's achievement extends beyond this Cheltenham debut. He recently ended the stranglehold that trainers Guillaume Macaire and Francois Nicolle had maintained on the French trainers' championship, claiming the title for himself. Additionally, he played a crucial role in helping Frost secure the female Golden Whip Championship in 2025, awarded for the most winners by a female rider.
Reflecting on his horses' chances, Seror provided insights into their preparations: "I'm happy Kaline Des Boullat is a novice and that is why she is coming to England. She has a lot of experience and she has a good handicap rating. For Miss Des Boullats, I'm very happy to find this race for her, but I do not think she will be 100 per cent fit right now."
Additional Riding Commitment for Frost
Beyond her partnership with Seror, Frost will also ride Hurricane Bay for former ally Lucy Wadham in the Betfair Exchange Handicap Chase on the Cheltenham Festival Trials day card. This represents a reunion with a horse she has partnered ten times previously, adding another layer of anticipation to her return to the Gloucestershire track.
The French trainer's enthusiasm is unmistakable as he approaches this career landmark. "It's very exciting to come to Cheltenham, I can't hide my joy and I'm jumping around," Seror confessed. "I've always wanted to have runners at Cheltenham and it will be a dream come true." This weekend represents not just another race meeting, but the fulfilment of a long-held ambition for one of French racing's rising stars.
