Adam Peaty Thanks Jesus in First Post After Marrying Holly Ramsay
Adam Peaty's First Post After Marrying Holly Ramsay

Olympic champion Adam Peaty has publicly thanked Jesus Christ in his first social media post since marrying Holly Ramsay and adopting her surname, a move that comes amid a deeply personal family conflict.

A New Year's Message of Faith

Returning to social media on New Year's Eve, which also marked his new wife's birthday, the 31-year-old swimmer shared a serene image of seagulls over the ocean. His caption read: 'It's the last day of 2025. Thank you Jesus for everything this year.' This public declaration of faith follows his lavish wedding to Gordon Ramsay's influencer daughter at Bath Cathedral on December 27.

Peaty, a devout Christian, has been open about how his faith helped him through a period he described as 'three years of hell'. After winning two gold medals at the Tokyo Olympics in 2021, he battled depression, alcoholism, and a separation from the mother of his child. He credits his newfound Christian belief, discovered after meeting five-time Olympic chaplain Ashley Null, as the key to his recovery and return to swimming.

Wedding Joy Shadowed by Family Turmoil

However, the joy of the wedding day was marred by a significant family dispute. Peaty barred his own mother, Caroline, from attending the service. The rift reportedly began when Caroline was excluded from Holly Ramsay's hen-do, escalating into an explosive row.

Following the ceremony, the conflict continued. Father of the bride, celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay, is said to have made a brutal dig at Peaty's parents during his speech, which left Caroline feeling 'outraged'. The swimmer's family have since accused him of not following his Christian beliefs by shunning them from the celebrations, alleging he sent his mother outfit options because he disapproved of her choices.

A Mother's Heartbreak

In the days after the wedding, Caroline Peaty took to Instagram to share her pain. She reposted a message that stated: 'I deserve a year that doesn't hurt.' The full post expressed a profound sense of loss, reading: 'I won't end this year pretending everything was fine. I lost a piece of myself this year that I will never get back... I'll be praying that I recover next year, that my heart never has to break like this again.'

She shared a second, more reflective post advising: 'Just a little reminder that you don't have to make resolutions or huge decisions or big proclamations. You can just set some sweet intentions and take each day as it comes.' These posts starkly contrast with her son's public message of gratitude and peace.

Despite the very public family rift, Peaty's social media post suggests he is focusing on his faith and new marriage. Raised Catholic, he now actively describes himself as a religious man and attends an Evangelical church almost every Sunday. He has previously stated that he values his 'relationship with Jesus' more than an Olympic gold medal, highlighting the central role faith now plays in his life.
