Klopp Rages at Germany Penalty Loss, Compares to Arsenal

Jurgen Klopp launched a furious rant after Germany were denied a winning goal against Paraguay, claiming if the decision stood, Arsenal should not have won the Premier League. Germany lost on penalties for the first time in World Cup history, as Paraguay pulled off a major shock.

Germany's World Cup Heartbreak

Julio Enciso gave Paraguay a first-half lead, but Julian Nagelsmann's side equalised through Kai Havertz early in the second half. The expected German onslaught followed, and they thought they had won it when Jonathan Tah headed home in stoppage time. However, referee Jalal Jayed was called to the monitor to review a foul on goalkeeper Orlando Gill. He ruled that Waldemar Anton had impeded the shotstopper, disallowing the goal. The match went to penalties, where Gill saved two German spot-kicks before Jose Canale sealed a famous win on sudden death.

Klopp's Explosive Reaction

The disallowed goal became a huge talking point, and former Liverpool boss Klopp did not hold back. Speaking to MagentaTV, he said: "If the goal is illegal, then Arsenal won't be English champions. They've scored 60 per cent of their goals that way. Germany win the game when the ball goes in. So, of course, this is brutal."

Nagelsmann and Shearer Weigh In

Germany boss Julian Nagelsmann, who was booked for his protests, labelled the decision a 'joke'. Alan Shearer told the BBC: "I don't agree with that decision at all. The keeper falls to the ground on a slight touch and it's very soft. I thought it was a terrible decision. You have to understand it is a contact sport, the goalkeeper has conned the referee and the VAR. The way he went down was pathetic."
