EastEnders Star Joins Corrie DNA Bombshell Storyline

Coronation Street is set to welcome an EastEnders star next week in an explosive new storyline involving a DNA bombshell. Actor Ian Burfield, known for playing DCI Peter Arthurs on EastEnders since 2018, will appear as Ross, the long-lost father of Tyrone Dobbs.

Hope and Ruby's Secret Plan

In upcoming scenes, Cassie Plummer spots granddaughters Hope and Ruby engrossed in an email on Hope's phone. When she tries to quiz them, they refuse to let slip, explaining that it's a surprise for dad Tyrone Dobbs. Later, Fiz Dobbs is also left suspicious when she overhears Hope telling Ruby that everything is in place for tomorrow. When Fiz questions what they're up to, Hope assures her it's nothing bad, but just a nice surprise.

Cassie's Self-Destructive Path

Meanwhile, Cassie decides to hit the self-destruct button after feeling let down by Steve McDonald following a romantic proposal and later spotting him helping ex Tracy Barlow, where they look like a happy couple. Cassie drowns her sorrows at the Chariot Square and after necking back vodka, chats up a bloke at the bar where she makes a pass at him, unaware that Steve is out looking for her.

The DNA Bombshell Revealed

As the week progresses, Hope and Ruby's secret is finally revealed as the girls invite the whole family to a meal at the Bistro. During the meal, Hope and Ruby reveal they have a surprise for Tyrone as they admit they sent off a sample of his DNA, traced his dad and he's here now. In a further bombshell, Ross, the man Cassie made a pass at, then enters the Bistro.

Unexpected Twists

However, the surprise doesn't go to plan as later Cassie warns Ross that Tyrone is stubborn and unlikely to change his mind about meeting up with him, to which Ross advises her to try harder. Meanwhile, liking what she sees, Tracy strikes up a conversation with Ross. When Tyrone and Cassie call at Speed Daal for a takeaway later, they are taken aback to find Steve, Tracy and Ross sharing a table. With little choice but to join them, Cassie is worried when Tyrone starts to soften towards Ross and arranges to meet him for a chat.

The character of Ross is played by Ian Burfield, 61, who is also known for his roles on The Bill. Coronation Street continues on weeknights at 8:30pm on ITV and ITVX.
