Carlos Alcaraz has surprised fans with a dramatic new buzzcut, following a mishap involving his brother Álvaro with the clippers. The 22-year-old tennis star took to Instagram to share the transformation, explaining that his brother's error left him with no choice but to shave his head entirely. 'My brother misunderstood with the machine – he cut it,' Alcaraz told reporters. 'And the only way to fix it is to shave it off.'
In a lighthearted Instagram post, Alcaraz poked fun at the situation, sharing an edited photo of himself on the tennis court with various wild hairstyles, including a long blonde wig. He also posted a snapshot of the disastrous moment in a marble bathroom, grinning while his brother wielded the clippers. The final image in the carousel showed him sitting outside with a foil cap, hinting at a possible bleaching session.
After winning the US Open against Jannik Sinner on Monday, Alcaraz hinted at an even bolder hair transformation to come. When asked about his celebration plans, he responded coyly, 'Even better. You will see. Surprise. Surprise.' Fans flooded the comments with excitement, with one writing, 'Blondcaraz coming soon?' and another asking, 'Hair reveal when?'
Alcaraz's regular barber, Víctor Martínez, who operates in his hometown of El Palmar in southern Spain, has become a minor celebrity thanks to the tennis champion's patronage. Martínez told CNN Sports that they laugh off negative comments about Alcaraz's hairstyles. 'The bad comments are also good because they create publicity,' he said. 'It's incredible because people in another part of the world are talking about you and your work.'
Since cutting Alcaraz's hair, Martínez's life has changed significantly. 'People come to the shop asking for "the Carlos haircut." Lots of kids, his fans,' he said. Despite his fame, Alcaraz remains down-to-earth, often chatting with other customers when they coincide at the barbershop. 'When he arrives at the shop, he's just another guy,' Martínez added.
