Former Sky Sports presenter Richard Keys has speculated that Rebekah Vardy's high-profile legal battle with Coleen Rooney may be impacting her husband Jamie Vardy's performances on the pitch. Leicester City currently sit bottom of the Premier League with just one point from seven matches, having conceded 22 goals.
Keys, now working for beIN SPORTS, wrote on his blog: 'Vardy looks like a shadow of himself. I can't help but wonder if his wife's tumultuous summer has taken more out of him than we thought it might? Certainly some of the stories we heard wouldn't have made him too popular with some of his colleagues.'
The 'Wagatha Christie' case, which concluded earlier this year, saw Rebekah Vardy accused of leaking stories to the press. Keys questioned Leicester's poor form despite minimal squad changes, noting the departure of Kasper Schmeichel and Wesley Fofana. He also claimed that former Everton manager Rafael Benitez has made himself available should Brendan Rodgers be sacked.
Rodgers, under increasing pressure after a 6-2 defeat to Tottenham, acknowledged the frustration of supporters but said he respects the club's owners regardless of his future. 'Whatever happens, I'll have a huge amount of respect for them because they've given me great support,' he said.
