Liverpool forward Mohamed Salah has reportedly made a definitive decision about his future after confirming his departure from the club at the end of the season, with one potential move already ruled out.
Saudi Pro League Interest Intensifies
According to reports from The Sun, the 33-year-old Egyptian international is not interested in following Lionel Messi's path to Major League Soccer in the United States. Instead, Salah is said to be tempted by a sensational offer worth over £200 million to become the new poster boy of the Saudi Pro League.
Serious interest from Middle Eastern clubs has persisted for several years, with Al Ittihad emerging as the most realistic destination. The Saudi club previously attempted to sign Salah in a blockbuster transfer nearly three years ago, with Liverpool rejecting a £150 million bid at that time.
Other Suitors Withdraw from Race
Al-Qadsiah, managed by former Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers, have reportedly pulled out of the race to sign the prolific winger. While remaining in Europe represents another possibility for Salah, with clubs from La Liga and Serie A expected to show interest, the substantial financial package from Saudi Arabia appears particularly enticing.
Salah enjoyed a highly successful season in Italy with AS Roma before joining Liverpool, which could make a return to Serie A appealing if European football remains an option he wishes to pursue.
Liverpool's Replacement Search Intensifies
As speculation continues about Salah's next destination, attention has also turned to who might replace him at Anfield. Liverpool legend Steven Gerrard has publicly outlined the attributes required for Salah's successor, emphasizing the need for a "box-office" signing.
Gerrard told TNT Sports: "You have to buy someone who is box-office or you're not replacing him. They have to be top-end, top three or four wingers in the world to replace Mo Salah because that's what Mo has been."
Potential Replacements Identified
The former Liverpool captain specifically mentioned Crystal Palace's Michael Olise as an ideal candidate, describing the young winger as "box office" material for the right-hand side position. Other marquee options linked with Liverpool include Manchester United-target Yan Diomande, Desire Doue, and Paris Saint-Germain's explosive attacker Khvicha Kvaratskhelia.
Arsenal have reportedly emerged as contenders for Kvaratskhelia's signature this summer as they seek a marquee left-sided forward, though the Georgian international can play across all front three positions, adding to his appeal for multiple Premier League clubs.
The search for Salah's replacement represents a critical challenge for Liverpool's recruitment team, who must identify a player capable of filling the void left by one of the Premier League's most consistent and productive attackers in recent history.
