The future of everyday technology has been unveiled as the CES 2026 trade show kicked off in Las Vegas, drawing thousands of visitors eager to glimpse the cutting-edge innovations set to redefine daily life in the coming years.
Companion Robots and AI-Powered Wellness
Among the most heartwarming reveals was Tombot's 'Jennie', a remarkably realistic autonomous robot dog designed as a companion for the elderly and those unable to care for a living pet. The robotic companion can move its head to look at its owner, wag its tail on command, and even bark for a treat. Its creators state it is aimed at assisting individuals facing health challenges such as dementia, anxiety, depression, and loneliness.
Health monitoring took a high-tech turn with several devices. Omnia's AI-powered body scanning mirror can assess a person's heart health, weight, and metabolic data. Meanwhile, Samsung's AI beauty mirror analyses the user's face to recommend specific skincare and cosmetic products suited to their skin tone and complexion.
Pushing the boundaries of personal care further, the Y-Brush electric toothbrush incorporates AI-driven monitoring features capable of detecting biomarkers for up to 300 diseases, including diabetes, liver oxidative stress, and gum disease.
Smart Home Helpers and Kitchen Revolution
The show highlighted a significant leap in domestic robotics. Electronics giant LG showcased its CLOiD robot, which promises to handle household chores like folding laundry, unloading dishwashers, serving food, and assisting with various other tasks.
The kitchen saw a wave of innovation. A company called Nosh presented an AI-powered cooker, roughly the size of a microwave, where users place ingredients into separate slots, and the machine prepares a complete meal. In a more whimsical vein, LG also unveiled a concept microwave that doubles as a selfie camera, featuring three lenses: one to view the food inside, one directed at the hob below, and one angled at the chef.
Even culinary tools are getting smarter. Seattle Ultrasonics introduced a chef's knife that vibrates at an astonishing 30,000 times per second, allowing it to slice through vegetables like potatoes with significantly greater ease than a conventional blade.
The Future of Entertainment and Mobility
Display technology continues to evolve, with foldable screens remaining a key trend. Samsung's Galaxy Z TriFold handset was among the latest mobile devices on display, featuring an expansive, flexible screen.
The annual Consumer Electronics Show (CES), which began on 5th January 2026, serves as a global stage where many concepts are first revealed. While some products, like the selfie microwave, are still in the conceptual phase, others are poised for imminent release, signalling a near-future where AI and robotics are deeply integrated into health, home, and personal care.
