Fans of the critically acclaimed action RPG Elden Ring and its multiplayer spinoff face temporary disruption this week as developer FromSoftware schedules essential server maintenance.
Steam Server Maintenance Schedule
FromSoftware, the studio behind Dark Souls, will take both Elden Ring and Elden Ring Nightreign offline on Tuesday, January 20. The maintenance period is set to last for two and a half hours. The work will affect only the Steam versions of the games on PC.
The servers will go offline at 9:00 AM Greenwich Mean Time (GMT). For players in the United States, this translates to a 1:00 AM Pacific Time or 4:00 AM Eastern Time start. Gamers in mainland Europe will see access cease from 10:00 AM Central European Time (CET).
When Will Servers Return Online?
According to the official schedule released by the developer, service is expected to be fully restored by 11:30 AM GMT. This means UK-based Tarnished can plan to resume their adventures in the Lands Between by late morning.
For international players, the corresponding return times are:
- 3:30 AM PDT on the US West Coast
- 6:30 AM EDT on the US East Coast
- 12:30 PM CET across Europe
No New Content With This Update
In an announcement made on the social media platform X, FromSoftware confirmed that this maintenance period is purely for server stability and backend improvements. The studio explicitly stated that the update "does not include additional content."
The developer's message to players read: "The Elden Ring and Elden Ring Nightreign Steam servers will undergo maintenance on Tuesday, January 20. This maintenance does not include additional content and will last for 2.5 hours. Thank you for your understanding and patience."
While the absence of new gameplay features or items may disappoint some, such routine maintenance is crucial for ensuring smooth online functionality, particularly for the competitive and cooperative elements of Elden Ring Nightreign. Players are advised to plan their gaming sessions around this two-and-a-half-hour window to avoid interruption.
