Assassin's Creed Shadows Update 1.1.8 Introduces Fan-Requested Jump Feature
Ubisoft has launched the highly anticipated update 1.1.8 for Assassin's Creed Shadows, now available on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. This latest patch, weighing 1.73GB on PS5 and 15.77GB on Xbox, brings a slew of new gameplay enhancements, most notably the addition of a manual jump ability that fans have been eagerly requesting.
Key Features and Gameplay Improvements
The standout addition in this update is the ability for players to manually jump, a feature many assumed was already included in the game. To activate this, players must enable the Advanced Parkour gameplay option in the menu. Once enabled, the Parkour Up button allows both protagonists, Naoe and Yasuke, to jump at any time, enhancing mobility and exploration.
Beyond jumping, Ubisoft has introduced detailed stats that provide a comprehensive breakdown of how gear, perks, and loadouts interact. A new Animus Entry Point can now be found at your hideout, and critical hits are better signposted during gameplay, improving player feedback and strategy.
Bug Fixes and Stability Enhancements
The update addresses numerous issues to improve overall stability and gameplay experience. Key fixes include:
- Stability: Resolved crashing issues when starting New Game+ on platforms without the Claws of Awaji, using save files that had progressed through the Awaji storyline.
- Gameplay: XP earned from contracts will no longer be reduced when the season changes, ensuring fair progression.
- World: Seasons will no longer transition when swapping characters, and NPCs now appear correctly in the hideout.
- Weapons & Perks: Multiple fixes to perks, including correcting double critical damage for Kusarigama and Naginata, and ensuring perks work consistently on afflicted enemies.
- UI: Updated descriptions and fixes for various perks, such as the Dark Encryption Kanabo now correctly stating +75% damage.
Platform-Specific and Quest Fixes
For Xbox users, a crashing issue when using or resetting Skill and Knowledge Points in the Skill Tree has been resolved. Additionally, several quests have been polished to prevent progression blockers:
- "The Lesson": Rewards are now granted correctly, and interaction with Junjiro is fixed.
- "Revenge": Players can leave Hiruga Bay without desynchronization.
- "The Lost Envoys": Interaction with the envoy is now seamless.
- Other quests like "A Different Kind of Samurai" and "Stray Dogs" have been adjusted to ensure completion without issues.
This comprehensive update demonstrates Ubisoft's commitment to refining Assassin's Creed Shadows, addressing community feedback, and enhancing the overall gaming experience with both new features and critical fixes.
