Sony Reveals Exclusive Marathon-Themed PS5 Accessories
Sony has unveiled a striking new limited edition PlayStation 5 DualSense controller and Pulse headset, both themed around Bungie's highly anticipated upcoming game, Marathon. This announcement comes as part of the broader release date confirmation for the extraction shooter, which is now scheduled to launch on March 5, 2026.
Design Inspired by Marathon's Futuristic Aesthetic
The new DualSense controller features a predominantly white base with vibrant neon green accents and intricate symbols drawn from the game's unique user interface. Bungie's design team aimed to reflect Marathon's visual identity, blending clean lines with purposeful markings to create a futuristic yet believable aesthetic.
In a statement, Bungie explained: "We set out to create a design that paid homage to the bold graphic design, vibrant colour and visual art direction of the game and its industrial design, architecture and environmental surfaces and equipment. The result is a design that reflects the world's balance of form and function."
Matching Pulse Headset and Limited Availability
Complementing the controller is a similarly styled Pulse headset, which sports black ear cups and detailed artwork across its white headband. Both accessories will be available exclusively through the PlayStation Direct store, with pre-orders opening on January 29 at 10am GMT.
As limited edition items, they will only be sold while stocks last, prompting enthusiasts to act quickly to secure these collectible pieces. The accessories are set to launch simultaneously with the game on March 5.
Marathon's Development and Preview Weekend
Marathon, developed by the creators of Destiny 2, has seen its release date shift from September 2025 to March 2026. Bungie has also announced a free preview weekend prior to launch, allowing players to experience the game and provide valuable feedback.
The standard edition of Marathon is currently available for pre-order at £34.99 and has already climbed into the top 10 best-selling games on Steam, indicating strong early interest. This positions it as a potential competitor to established titles like ARC Raiders in the extraction shooter genre.
