UK Snow Forecast: First Winter Cold Snap Hits with -10C Temps
UK snow forecast: First winter cold snap hits this week

The United Kingdom is bracing for its first significant cold spell of the winter season, with a sharp drop in temperatures and widespread snowfall expected to cause disruption.

Met Office Issues Weather Warnings

The Met Office has activated multiple yellow weather warnings for snow and ice. These alerts are in force for parts of Scotland and northern England from Monday through to Thursday. Forecasters indicate that temperatures will be "markedly colder" compared to the previous week, bringing a harsh frost and sub-zero conditions that could potentially reach a biting minus ten degrees Celsius.

Health Alerts and Widespread Snowfall

In response to the severe forecast, the UK Health Security Agency has issued both yellow and amber cold weather alerts for the whole of England. These are effective until Saturday. Wintry showers, a mix of sleet and snow, are predicted to push southwards across the country. Accumulations of 2-5cm of snow are possible in low-lying areas, while higher ground in northern and eastern regions could see up to 10cm.

This early cold snap serves as a stark reminder that winter has arrived. Residents are advised to stay updated with the latest forecasts and prepare for potential travel delays and icy conditions on roads and pavements.
