Chelsea have made Andrey Santos available for transfer this summer, with the club open to offers for the Brazilian midfielder. Several Premier League clubs, including Manchester United and Newcastle United, are monitoring the situation.
Manchester United's Midfield Search
Manchester United are looking to strengthen their central midfield options and have already agreed a deal to sign Ederson from Atalanta. However, moves for Mateus Fernandes and Elliot Anderson were deemed too expensive, as they joined Tottenham and Manchester City respectively. Santos now emerges as a potential target.
Santos' Role at Chelsea
The 22-year-old made 43 appearances across all competitions for Chelsea in the 2025/26 season, but only 25 of those were starts. With Chelsea not playing in Europe next season, his playing time could be further reduced. The Blues are also pursuing a new central midfielder this summer, which may push Santos further down the pecking order.
Chelsea signed Santos from Vasco da Gama for £18 million in 2023. He has since had loan spells at Nottingham Forest and Strasbourg. Reports indicate Chelsea value him at £50 million.
Enzo Fernandez Situation
Chelsea have a similar stance on Enzo Fernandez, who would be allowed to leave if a club meets his £120 million asking price. However, Real Madrid have officially stated they have "no intention" of signing the Argentine this summer. Chelsea are unconcerned and expect Fernandez to remain at the club.
Other Midfield Moves
Valentin Barco is expected to join Chelsea from Strasbourg, providing another option in central midfield. The deal is not yet official but sources close to the transfer confirm it will be completed within weeks.
Meanwhile, Chelsea have failed in their attempt to sign Granit Xhaka from Sunderland. Manager Xabi Alonso was keen to reunite with the 33-year-old, but Sunderland insist he is not for sale at any price.
