Lloyds Confirms 95 UK Bank Closures Until March 2027

Lloyds Banking Group has confirmed the locations of 95 bank branches across the UK that will close between now and March 2027. The closures, announced in February 2026, began in May 2026 and include branches under the Lloyds Bank, Halifax, and Bank of Scotland brands.

The banking group stated that the closures are part of a shift towards digital banking, aiming to provide customers with more freedom and choice. A spokeswoman for Lloyds said: “Customers want the freedom to bank in the way that works for them and we offer more choice and ways to manage money than ever before. From our leading apps and 24/7 messaging service to local banking options like our community bankers, PayPoint and access to all of our Lloyds, Halifax and Bank of Scotland branches, we’re giving our customers the flexibility to bank wherever and whenever they need us.”

Breakdown of Closures by Brand

The closures consist of 53 Lloyds Bank, 31 Halifax, and 11 Bank of Scotland sites. Once completed by March 2027, Lloyds will have 610 branches remaining. This will allow Nationwide to overtake Lloyds as the UK's largest branch network, with 696 branches. Nationwide has pledged to keep its 605 Nationwide branches and 91 Virgin Money sites open until at least 2030.
