Sandcastle Waterpark in Blackpool, the UK's largest indoor waterpark, has undergone a £500,000 transformation to mark its 40th birthday. The upgrades include completely refreshed changing facilities, repainted slides, new signage, and a brand new audio system.
Refurbishment Details
The most significant part of the renovations is the park’s completely refreshed changing facilities. This involved all new lockers, as well as modernised changing rooms and showers. Additionally, all 18 slides and attractions were freshly repainted, adding new splashes of colour to the waterpark. New signage was also installed throughout the park.
The final element of the upgrade was the installation of a brand new audio system. While the renovations do not include new rides or pools, they were carried out to maintain the waterpark's reputation as one of the country's best.
General Manager's Statement
General Manager Kyle Woodcock told the BBC: “This is a landmark year for us, and we wanted to mark our 40th birthday with improvements that our guests will really feel.”
40th Birthday Celebrations
The park, which first opened its doors in 1986, has welcomed millions of visitors over the years. To celebrate its fourth decade, Sandcastle Waterpark threw an 80s-themed party on June 26, as well as offering a number of discounts and group bundles that were not available previously.
