Glasgow Woman Alleges Humiliating Disneyland Ejection Over Breast Size
A woman from Glasgow has claimed she was publicly humiliated and asked to leave Disneyland in California because staff deemed her outfit inappropriate due to her large breast size, which stems from a rare medical condition.
Medical Condition Behind the Controversy
Summer Robert, 28, has Macromastia, a medical condition characterised by abnormally large breast development. She currently wears an R-cup bra size, but her breasts could potentially grow larger. The condition often causes chronic back, neck, and shoulder pain alongside frequent headaches.
Summer, who has over 200,000 Instagram followers, explained that finding clothing to fully cover her 30R chest is extremely challenging. "I have a medical condition I can’t control," she stated.
The Disneyland Incident
During a recent visit to Disneyland California, Summer alleges the following sequence of events unfolded:
- She was approached by a male employee who informed her a guest had complained about her outfit.
- When she questioned what was wrong, he reportedly shrugged and gave a non-verbal indication nothing was actually inappropriate.
- An older female employee then intervened, shouting that Summer was dressed "ridiculously" and demanding she cover up with a sweatshirt or leave the park.
- Summer explained she had no sweatshirt in the 30°C heat and was not inclined to purchase one.
- After stating they were about to leave anyway, Summer claims the female staff member followed her and a friend into a store outside the park, repeating the demand to cover up or leave immediately.
- A confrontation ensued where the staff member allegedly changed her reasoning from Summer's chest to her skirt, despite earlier clear references to her breasts.
"Being followed into a shop by staff like I was a criminal simply for existing in my own body is a level of humiliation I wouldn’t wish on anyone," Summer expressed.
Pattern of Acceptance Versus Rejection
Summer noted this was her first negative experience at a Disney park regarding her clothing. She has previously visited Disney locations in Orlando and Paris wearing similar outfits without any complaints. On this occasion, she wore a skirt with shorts underneath and a long-sleeved top, which she believed was more than acceptable.
"I was dressed the same as most people there, the only difference being that I have larger breasts," she said, pointing out that other guests wore sports bras and leggings.
Emotional Aftermath and Broader Implications
The incident, which occurred after approximately four hours in the park, left Summer feeling "disgusting" and "embarrassed", causing her to cry all the way home. She stated she will not return to Disneyland California due to the experience.
"You go to the happiest place on earth, expecting a wonderful time, but instead I was treated horribly," she recounted. The event raises questions about theme park dress code enforcement, body inclusivity, and the treatment of individuals with visible medical conditions in public spaces.
Disney has been approached for comment regarding the allegations.
