Nobu, the globally renowned hospitality brand known for its glamorous Japanese-style restaurants and hotels, is set to open a groundbreaking new venture in the heart of the English countryside. The 'first-of-its-kind concept for the brand' will be located in Rutland, the smallest county in England, on a sprawling 185-acre estate.
New Partnership with Woolfox Members Club
The project is being developed in partnership with Woolfox Members Club, a luxury lifestyle-themed club that will become the 'future home of Nobu Woolfox,' according to the club's website. This collaboration aims to bring a nature-led retreat to Nobu's portfolio, offering guests a unique opportunity to immerse themselves in beautiful landscapes.
Accommodation and Amenities
Guests will have a choice of lake view rooms and suites, along with access to a signature Nobu restaurant, bar, and spa. The retreat is designed to encourage visitors to embrace 'a slower, more restorative pace' during their stay. While an exact timeline and launch date have not yet been announced, the anticipation is building.
CEO's Vision
Trevor Horwell, CEO of Nobu Hospitality, expressed his enthusiasm for the project, stating: 'This is a truly special location in the heart of England, surrounded by rolling historic landscapes and quintessential English countryside. For the first time within our portfolio, we have the opportunity at Nobu Woolfox to create a special countryside retreat experience – one that offers all the hallmarks of Nobu, but in a setting defined by nature, tranquility, and a sense of escape. We look forward to working closely with Woolfox to envision and curate a truly distinctive English countryside retreat.'
Location and Accessibility
The retreat will be situated near Stamford, a Georgian town often compared to the Cotswolds for its beauty and charm. It is approximately two hours and 40 minutes from London by car, or four hours via public transport. Rutland itself is known for its rolling hills and picturesque countryside villages, making it an ideal setting for this new venture.
Nobu's Legacy and Other UK Properties
Nobu was founded by Hollywood actor Robert De Niro, chef Nobu Matsuhisa, and Meir Teper. Each establishment is meticulously decorated, drawing inspiration from its location. The only other Nobu Hotel in the UK is London Portman Square in Marylebone, which offers a range of luxurious suites, including the Saijoukai Suite (priced from around £2,000 per night) and the Nobu Penthouse (around £3,200 per night). Nobu Shoreditch, the brand's first UK hotel, opened in 2017 but has since been rebranded as Aethos London Shoreditch, operated by a Swiss hospitality lifestyle brand.
What to Expect
The new Nobu Woolfox promises to deliver the brand's iconic cuisine and renowned hospitality in a serene countryside setting. With its focus on nature and tranquility, it is set to become a sought-after destination for those seeking a luxurious escape from the hustle and bustle of city life.
