Arne Slot provides update on Mohamed Salah injury and chances of return before Liverpool exit
Slot: Salah could return before Liverpool exit

Arne Slot has provided an update on Mohamed Salah's injury, expressing optimism that the Egyptian star could feature for Liverpool once more before his summer departure. Salah sustained a knock during the Premier League clash with Crystal Palace, sparking fears he might have played his final game for the club. However, Liverpool described the issue as a 'minor muscle injury' and anticipate his return during one of the final four matches of the season.

Slot's update on Salah

'As we know for Mo, he is always working hard when he is fit and when he is injured to be back,' Slot said. 'He is usually fitter than others, so we expect him back for the final part of the season. Not for tomorrow.' The manager added that it is a relief the injury is minor, allowing Salah to potentially play for Liverpool and the World Cup. 'Any time a player who deserved a send-off, it's great news.'

Farewell at Anfield?

Liverpool's final home game of the season is against Brentford on 24 May, and Salah is hopeful of featuring by then, which would allow for an emotional farewell after a glittering nine-year spell at Anfield. Slot, however, remains focused on securing Champions League qualification, with Liverpool needing just five more points from their last four games to clinch a top-five finish.

Injury list grows

Meanwhile, Slot also provided updates on other injuries. Alisson Becker is close to returning but has not yet trained with the team, while Freddie Woodman will continue in goal against Manchester United. Giorgi Mamardashvili remains sidelined. 'It's a bonus when every player comes back, our injury list is longer and longer,' Slot added. 'Alisson hasn't trained with us yet, I will find out today if he can today or start of next week. Very close but we don't take risks.'
