Xavi Simons has been ruled out of the remainder of the Premier League season and the World Cup after tearing his anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) during Tottenham's 1-0 victory over Wolverhampton Wanderers on Saturday. The 23-year-old Netherlands international is expected to be sidelined for approximately eight months.

Simons was stretchered off at Molineux in the 63rd minute after twisting his knee while chasing a ball toward the byline. The injury occurred as Spurs secured their first league win in 16 matches, but the club remains in the relegation zone, sitting 18th in the table, two points behind 17th-placed West Ham with only four games remaining.

New manager Roberto De Zerbi had been relying on Simons' creativity to aid the club's survival battle. The team was already without nine players due to injury for the Wolves match, and striker Dominic Solanke also sustained a muscle injury during the game.
