Jonah Hill's former contemporary mansion in Malibu has been listed for $13.25 million, three years after the actor relocated to San Diego for a quieter life. The 42-year-old Superbad star left Los Angeles for a low-key coastal town to raise his two children with wife Olivia Millar, away from the spotlight. He had only lived in the home for a year before selling it in 2022 for $11.1 million, which was $2.1 million more than his purchase price. He also sold his luxurious New York City apartment that same year for $10.56 million.
Prime Location and Features
Located in the exclusive, guard-gated Malibu Colony enclave between Pacific Coast Highway and the Pacific Ocean, the property offers both mountain views and generous ocean glimpses. It includes private key beach access and ample indoor-outdoor entertaining spaces. The recently renovated residence is listed by Dustin Nicholas of The Nicholas Property Group and spans 3,653 square feet with four bedrooms and four bathrooms. A soaring living room features a dramatic fireplace.
Design and Staging
Staging and design were handled by Vesta Home's Tiara Coughlan, who honored the home's 'effortless California cool' by subtly elevating each room through layered textures, organic tones, and warm contemporary detailing. The double-height living area boasts a glass-walled gallery and light walls, with black-framed windows stacking from floor to ceiling to allow natural light. The kitchen features warm wood cabinetry, a modern sink, and clean-lined white countertops. A spoked chandelier hangs over the dining room, adding ambiance for dinner parties.
Upstairs, the primary suite includes a fireside sitting area framed by ebony slatted walls. The master bath offers his-and-hers vanities, an oversized custom shower, soaking tub, sauna, and access to a third-level rooftop deck with 'peekaboo' ocean views, perfect for entertaining. French doors open to a private backyard oasis with a lagoon-style pool and spa, outdoor kitchen, and plenty of room for guests.
Hill's Move to San Diego
Hill, who recently welcomed his second child with his fashion designer wife, discussed his decision to leave Los Angeles during a live recording of the SmartLess podcast. 'So I live in a very small town in San Diego, and it's amazing, and my neighbors are incredible people,' he said. 'And when we had our first kid, we moved out there three years ago. I wanted to leave LA and raise a family outside of Los Angeles.' The Wolf of Wall Street actor still travels for work but appreciates being away from the Hollywood bubble. 'My neighbors never treat me weird or ask me about my job,' he added.
Despite his move, Hill has fond memories of growing up in LA. 'I grew up here. LA was such a cool place to grow up in the '90s because you could go skateboard downtown or sneak into a movie premiere or a comedy club and see Chris Rock,' he recalled. 'You had access to show business stuff, but also to punk and skating and graffiti. And there was no internet. It was just so awesome.'
Career and Family
Hill recently made his long-awaited comeback with Outcome, a dark comedy he directed, co-wrote, and stars in alongside Keanu Reeves, Cameron Diaz, and Matt Bomer. Speaking to Extra, he said, 'Getting these guys together was the greatest thing of all time. I'm the most blessed director on the planet.' He praised Diaz's performance as 'the best of her career.' The film debuted on Apple TV+ on April 10. Hill is also set to star in and direct the sartorial comedy Cut Off, about two wealthy siblings forced to act their age when their parents cut them off financially.
