Omaze Winners List Historic Bath Mansion for £4 Million After Dream Wedding

Paul Knight and Justin Snowdon, a couple who won a magnificent six-bedroom mansion through an Omaze prize draw, have placed the historic property on the market for £4 million. The decision comes just six months after they celebrated their wedding at the stunning Batheaston House near Bath, creating lifelong memories in a residence with royal connections dating back to the mid-1500s.

A Royal Connection and Flush of Luck

Paul Knight, 47, discovered he had won the property in the Omaze Million Pound House Draw while sitting on the toilet—a fitting coincidence given the home's heritage. Batheaston House was once part of the estate belonging to Sir John Harington, the godson of Elizabeth I and inventor of the world's first flushing toilet. The bar manager and his husband, Jason Snowdon, 36, wed at the property in October 2025, describing it as "the most stunning wedding venue" they could imagine.

"When we first won the house, we joked it was fit for royalty, so it felt only right that we have our wedding here," Paul said last year. "We feel unbelievably lucky to get married surrounded by all our loved ones in our very own dream house."

Historic Features Meet Modern Luxury

The Grade II listed Queen Anne residence, meticulously restored in 2015, boasts numerous period features that have been preserved with care. The exterior has remained virtually untouched since 1712, while inside, distinctive elements include a working internal well, a hidden Georgian safe drawer, and inscriptions from 1636. The property also features ornate fireplaces, intricate panelling, tall sash windows, and a magnificent central staircase.

For contemporary comforts, the couple added a home cinema and a hot tub, blending historical splendour with modern elegance. The ground floor includes four exquisite reception rooms, a south-facing drawing room leading to a garden terrace, and a garden room with a concealed kitchen behind sliding bookcases. The Tudor basement, fitted with blue lias flagstones, now enjoys underfloor heating throughout.

Financial Freedom and Lifestyle Transformation

Following their wedding, Paul and Justin rented out the mansion as a holiday let at £4,000 per week, providing them with significant financial freedom. The win also included £250,000 in cash, allowing them to live mortgage-free and enjoy the property without financial worries.

"Over the past year, it's given us incredible financial freedom," Paul explained. "Coming mortgage-free and with £250,000 in cash meant we could enjoy the house with our friends and family without a worry in the world."

The additional income enabled a major lifestyle shift: Justin reduced his work hours, and Paul quit his job entirely to manage the rental side. "All the usual pressures just evaporated," he noted.

Looking to the Future

Now, the couple have listed the breathtaking residence for sale through Savills, aiming to turn their £20 Omaze entry into millions of pounds. They plan to buy another dream home closer to family and invest in further properties as holiday lets, creating a new business venture while securing their financial future.

"Winning with Omaze has completely transformed our lives," Paul said. "Every day I thank my lucky stars I decided to enter. Selling now allows us to fully realise opportunities we never imagined possible."

While awaiting a sale, the couple look forward to enjoying another sunny summer at Batheaston House, cherishing the memories of their wedding day in a property that will always hold a special place in their hearts.
