Sharon Osbourne Lists $17 Million Los Angeles Estate Following Ozzy's Death
Sharon Osbourne, the 73-year-old matriarch of the famous Osbourne family, has placed the Los Angeles estate she shared with her late husband, rock legend Ozzy Osbourne, on the market for $17 million. This move marks a significant downsizing effort in the wake of Ozzy's passing, as Sharon plans to divide her time between their Buckinghamshire property in the UK and a Los Angeles apartment.
Property History and Features
The sprawling Hancock Park estate, located just five miles from downtown Los Angeles, was originally purchased by Sharon and Ozzy in 2015 for $11.85 million. The 1920s-era home spans approximately 10,200 square feet and includes a guesthouse on the grounds. According to Carolwood Estates, the couple previously listed the property for $18 million in 2022, later reducing it to $17.5 million, before temporarily withdrawing it from the market as they considered a full-time relocation to the UK.
Notable features of the estate include a home cinema adorned with priceless celebrity signatures, including that of Elvis Presley, who signed the fireplace when radio host Frank Bresee owned the home. Other luxurious elements are a curved staircase, large chandelier, and ornate ceiling. During their ownership, Sharon and Ozzy undertook renovations to honor the home's early 20th-century style, such as updating the kitchen to reflect its heritage and replacing the outdoor swimming pool.
Family Connections and Downsizing Plans
Sharon's decision to sell comes after Ozzy's death from heart failure on July 22, just weeks after a farewell concert with Black Sabbath in Birmingham. Ozzy is now buried at Welders House, the Grade II listed building in Buckinghamshire that the couple bought in 1993. Their children—Aimee, Jack, and Kelly—and grandchildren have returned to Los Angeles, prompting Sharon to split her time evenly between the UK and a new LA apartment, with plans to spend at least half the year on the West Coast.
Insiders suggest this move could become permanent, with expectations that Sharon will likely reside mostly in the US again within a few years. She is a doting grandmother to her grandchildren and misses being part of their daily lives. Additionally, Sharon has a substantial network in Los Angeles, where she and Ozzy lived for two decades, including her work on The X Factor with Simon Cowell and Louis Walsh.
Osbourne Family Legacy and Real Estate
The Osbourne family's connection to Los Angeles real estate runs deep. Their daughter Kelly recently revealed that the family has made ten unsuccessful bids to repurchase the Beverly Hills mansion where they filmed their iconic MTV reality show, The Osbournes, from 2002 to 2005. That home, also in Hancock Park, was sold to popstar Christina Aguilera in 2007 and described by Kelly as "one of the best places we ever lived."
As Ozzy's health declined, the couple prepared for a return to England, listing the US property and renovating their UK home to include a rehabilitation wing, nurse's flat, and health facilities. They had planned a reality series, Home To Roost, documenting their move, but Ozzy's condition prevented it. His final public appearance was at the Black Sabbath reunion concert in Birmingham before his passing.
Sharon has since shared emotional tributes to Ozzy, including a post on her first Valentine's Day without him, captioning a photo of their hands locked with "Forever Valentine." The sale of the Los Angeles estate symbolizes a new chapter for Sharon as she navigates life after Ozzy's death, balancing family ties and personal downsizing in both the UK and US.
