Irish model and television presenter Vogue Williams has offered fans an exclusive look at the stylish transformation of her family's new London rental property. The reveal comes as she, her husband Spencer Matthews, and their three children settle into temporary accommodation while extensive renovations are carried out on their recently purchased "forever home."
A Temporary Base During Major Renovations
The family officially vacated their luxurious £4.25 million Battersea apartment last week, marking the end of a seven-year chapter in the property where all three of their children were born. Having first listed the Battersea flat for sale two years ago at £5.25 million, the couple eventually accepted a significantly reduced offer, with the price having been slashed by a staggering £1 million over the listing period.
They are now residing in a rented property nearby, which they expect to call home for approximately eighteen months. This temporary move ensures their children—Theodore, eight, Gigi, six, and Otto, four—can remain in their current schools while the dream house undergoes a complete overhaul.
Creating Cosy Spaces in the Rental
Taking to Instagram, Vogue Williams shared the journey of making the rental feel like home. She began by showing the empty living room, which boasted attractive original features including a large bay window, a fireplace, and high ceilings.
The transformation focused on creating a warm and inviting atmosphere. Vogue introduced a stylish blue L-shaped sofa from her own new collection, complemented by a coordinated blue and white striped armchair. She layered a large white and blue striped rug over the wooden flooring and placed a round coffee table at the room's centre, accessorised with books, a vase, and various plants.
"We’ve officially moved into our rental and wanted it to feel like home as soon as possible!" Vogue explained in her social media post. "I wanted the living space to feel cosy so I couldn’t wait to put the sofas from my new collection in there."
Practical Family Living
Understanding the needs of a young family, Vogue also showcased clever storage solutions. One side of the living room discreetly houses the children's toys, including a dolls' house, a small desk, and a large unit of storage drawers.
The tour extended to the children's bedrooms. Teddy and Gigi's room features a stylish white bunk bed complete with an exciting slide, a small desk, a bookcase, and clothing rails. Youngest child Otto was pictured looking thrilled in his new bedroom, sitting on a green and white checked bed.
The Dream "Forever Home" Project
In a YouTube vlog last December, Vogue revealed that she and Spencer had finally sold their first marital home and purchased their permanent family house in London back in June. The period property, located not far from their old Battersea apartment, requires significant work, hence the lengthy rental period.
Vogue described the new house as their genuine "forever home," drawing parallels to her dream home in Ireland. She expressed immense excitement about the project, admitting she was so determined to own the property that they likely didn't secure the best possible deal during purchase negotiations.
The house retains many original period features, including fireplaces, cornicing, and ceiling roses. It also boasts a large garden, which the couple plans to clear of excess shrubbery to create a spacious lawn for their children to play on.
Budget Management and Expertise
Vogue, who holds a degree in quantity surveying, highlighted that her professional expertise is proving invaluable during the renovation planning. She humorously noted the need to rein in Spencer's more extravagant ideas to keep the project within their financial means.
"It's a big job and I'm having to put the reins on Spenny because he doesn't understand that actually I do have a degree in quantity surveying and I do know how much things cost," she shared. "The things he wants are just not in our budget... it will still be the dream house but it will just be within our budget."
The couple also owns a family home in Howth, Dublin, purchased in late 2023, but continue to base themselves in London due to work commitments. This latest property venture represents a significant next step in establishing their long-term family base in the capital.
