Aldi has announced further price reductions on 23 essential grocery and household items, with an average cut of 13%. The move, effective from January 25, marks the second round of price cuts in just over a week, following a reduction on more than 40 products earlier in January.
The latest reductions cover a range of fresh produce, fruit, juice, milk, ready meals, and cleaning products, with some items now priced as low as 99p. Aldi has invested over £30 million in lowering prices across hundreds of product lines since the start of the year.
This comes after Aldi was named the cheapest supermarket of the year by Which? for 2023, holding the title for 11 out of 12 months. In December 2023, a basket of 43 items was found to be 14% cheaper at Aldi compared to larger supermarkets.
Julie Ashfield, Managing Director of Buying at Aldi, said: “We’ve got 2024 off to an amazing start – investing more in price cuts than ever before to ensure our customers get the lowest prices possible. We’ve seen hundreds of thousands of customers shop with us for the first time in the past year, with significant savings to be had by simply switching to Aldi.”
