Edinburgh Zoo is offering a magical after-hours experience this summer, with tickets starting from £10 for children aged 3-15 and free entry for infants aged 0-2. Adult tickets are priced at £15 per person, making it an affordable family outing. The event runs from 5pm to 9pm on three Saturday dates in July: July 11, July 18, and July 25, 2026.
What to Expect at the Twilight Experience
Visitors can explore the zoo's 82-acre site, home to over 2,500 animals including the UK's only koalas, the famous Penguin Parade, and multiple big cat enclosures. The after-hours event offers a more personalised experience, with the chance to see over 1,000 species, including new baby animals such as a capybara, sloth, and anteater. Each guest receives a complimentary ice cream, and food and drink are available for purchase. The gift shop remains open for souvenirs.
Booking and Availability
Tickets are available through Itison, but customers are advised to book quickly as they are selling fast. The experience lasts up to four hours, with last entry at 8pm. Daytime zoo entry is not included. The zoo, founded in 1913 by Thomas Gillespie, is Scotland's largest wildlife attraction and is highly rated for its conservation and education efforts.
Visitor Reviews
A recent Tripadvisor review from July 2 said: "Went to the zoo with my three year old and family and it was amazing. Loads of new animals and updated enclosures with better views... Ticket prices are extremely reasonable." Another reviewer noted: "Fantastic zoo, animals seem happy and well cared for. Very hilly so make sure you wear comfy shoes."
