Morrisons has announced it will close 100 outlets over the coming months, placing hundreds of jobs at risk. The supermarket chain attributed the decision to rising costs driven by Government measures, including increases to the National Living Wage and employee National Insurance contributions. Closing unprofitable convenience outlets has been a 'tough' decision, but is part of efforts to reduce costs. The company stated it would attempt to secure positions for employees facing redundancy.
