Manchester United are on the verge of announcing the signing of Colombian midfielder Cristian Orozco from Fortaleza CEIF, while reports of a bid from Galatasaray for captain Bruno Fernandes have been dismissed as far-fetched.
Cristian Orozco Set to Join United
United agreed a deal for the 17-year-old prospect last September but have had to wait until July 13, when he turns 18, to register him. The official club confirmation is expected shortly after that date. Orozco will arrive in Manchester ahead of his birthday to begin his integration, including English language tuition.
Given his age, Orozco is viewed as a future prospect and will initially join United's under-21 ranks. However, with Champions League football secured, manager Michael Carrick may rotate heavily in the Carabao Cup, potentially offering Orozco senior involvement next season. His playing style has drawn comparisons to Chelsea's Moises Caicedo.
Bruno Fernandes Interest Dismissed
Turkish outlet TRT Sport reported that Galatasaray are preparing a bid for Bruno Fernandes, waiting until Portugal's World Cup campaign ends before declaring their interest. However, a move is highly unlikely given the progress under Carrick and Fernandes's desire to captain the side in the Champions League.
Fernandes came close to leaving for the Saudi Pro League last summer, but with belief at Old Trafford on the up, the 31-year-old appears more inclined to finish his career at United. His contract expires next summer but includes a one-year extension option.
Midfield Priority Under Carrick
United have embarked on a pivotal summer after Carrick was given the role permanently. With Champions League football secured, he is expected to receive substantial financial backing. The midfield is a clear priority following Casemiro's exit, with Ederson already en route from Atalanta and numerous other central midfielders linked.
