A Place In The Sun Buyer Rushed to Hospital After Stair Fall in Cyprus
In a dramatic revelation on the latest episode of A Place In The Sun: What Happened Next?, a buyer disclosed they were rushed to hospital after falling down stairs and slicing their leg open in Cyprus. Host Jasmine Harman revisited Bill and Sandra, a couple she assisted in 2020 when they purchased a holiday home on the Mediterranean island for their family.
Healthcare Experience in Cyprus
During a meal cooked by Bill, Jasmine inquired about their experiences with Cypriot healthcare. Sandra responded by recounting a frightening incident from the previous year. 'I tripped on some stairs and gashed the front of my leg,' she explained. 'We went to the doctor, who said it definitely needed stitches.'
To their surprise, an ambulance was immediately available. Bill initially worried about costs, but Sandra clarified: '50 euros on the insurance, that's all it cost.' She was seen, stitched up, and back on her sunbed within just two hours, praising the efficiency of the medical system.
Limited Visits and Future Plans
The couple admitted they hadn't visited Cyprus as frequently as hoped, with their longest trip lasting only three weeks. Bill cited ongoing childcare responsibilities back home as the primary reason. When Jasmine asked if they planned to sell, they firmly declined. On the possibility of moving full-time, Bill revealed: 'It's crossed our mind to apply for the visa, you've just got to comply with the regulations to get it.'
Incredible Four-Year Property Transformation in Lanzarote
Elsewhere in the episode, host Ben Hillman was left astounded by another couple's remarkable property makeover. Reuniting with Nicola and Paul, who appeared on the show in November 2020, Ben toured their renovated apartment in Lanzarote.
Stunning Renovation Details
Walking into the living space, Ben gasped: 'Oh my goodness, seriously, guys, this is incredible. It's a lot different... my goodness it is completely new property, isn't it?' Paul described their new kitchen as 'perfect,' while Nicola explained they relied on recommendations from builders within their complex and shopped at major stores for materials.
Costs and Process
Ben inquired about the challenges of renovating abroad without local contacts. Nicola and Paul praised their solicitor for guiding them through the process. When asked about expenses, Nicola confessed: 'We reckon the building cost, plumbing, rewire, kitchen, bathroom, £20,000.' Combined with the original purchase price of £165,000, Ben concluded: 'All in all, £180,000, I think that is money well spent.'
