A man who has embraced a full-time nomadic lifestyle, journeying across more than 80 countries, has shared his expert recommendations on overrated destinations to avoid and hidden gems to seek out instead. Carl, a 33-year-old originally from Austria, developed a deep passion for travel after a transformative trip to China during his teenage years. He explained in an exclusive interview with the Daily Mail that this experience ignited a fascination with exploring the world, setting him on a path far from conventional aspirations like home ownership.
From Corporate Life to Global Exploration
After completing his education, Carl worked as a product manager for a major company supplying laboratory devices for medical research. During this time, he aggressively saved money to fund his travel dreams. In 2023, he made a bold move by quitting his job, selling his apartment, and discarding most of his possessions to embark on a continuous adventure. Since then, he has been living out of a suitcase, moving from city to city, and has now visited an impressive 81 different nations.

Carl highlighted several underrated locations that he believes more travellers should consider. He recommends exploring Central Asia, with a specific mention of Kazakhstan, as well as Borneo, Laos, Jordan, Armenia, Bolivia, Nicaragua, and Timor-Leste.
