British Man in Coma After Thailand Scooter Crash, Girlfriend Vows to Stay by His Side
Brit in Coma After Thailand Crash, Girlfriend Makes Heartfelt Promise

The girlfriend of a British man who is fighting for his life following a devastating scooter crash while on holiday in Thailand has made a heartfelt promise to remain by his side as he battles severe injuries in a coma. Amy Ekin, 21, from Prescot, Merseyside, has vowed to wait at her boyfriend Zak Forsyth's hospital bedside until he is well enough to return to the United Kingdom with her.

Horrific Accident Leaves Young Man with Life-Threatening Injuries

Zak Forsyth, 21, from Huyton, Merseyside, had been enjoying a holiday with friends in Thailand when tragedy struck. According to his girlfriend Amy, he was returning from an outing and was completely sober while riding the scooter when he became involved in a serious collision with a car. The crash left Zak with a traumatic brain bleed, a broken nose, a fractured jaw, and broken bones in his ankle and arm.

He was rushed to a local hospital by the driver of the car involved in the accident and is currently in a medically induced coma. The situation is compounded by the fact that Zak did not have any medical or travel insurance coverage for his trip, meaning all hospital and treatment costs must be paid for entirely by his family.

Family Faces Mounting Medical Bills and Launches Fundraiser

The family has managed to secure Zak's admission into surgery by putting down a substantial £5,000 deposit, but they anticipate needing significantly more financial support to cover ongoing medical care. In response, they have launched an online fundraiser with a target goal of £20,000 to help cover Zak's extensive medical expenses and related costs.

So far, the campaign has garnered an outpouring of support, raising more than £18,000 in donations from well-wishers. Amy, who works as a hairdresser, expressed the family's urgent need for assistance, stating, "We've got a fundraiser going, we just need as much help as possible at the moment."

Girlfriend's Emotional Promise and Plans to Fly to Thailand

Amy Ekin is scheduled to fly to Thailand on Monday to be with Zak as he remains in a serious condition. In an emotional interview with the Daily Mail, she made a solemn promise, declaring, "I am not coming home until he comes home with me. So, if we've got to stay over there for three months, four months, until he's able to fly, boat, whatever - that's what I'm going to do."

She added, "Our whole life has been put on hold, everything. I can't even sleep, I just want him to be OK." The couple were due to celebrate their second anniversary next week and had made plans to relocate to Australia together in the coming months, plans that are now indefinitely postponed.

Family Appeals for Help to Bring Zak Home

Zak's mother, Mel McCourt, 47, also from Huyton, has joined the appeal for support, emphasizing, "We need as much help as we can to get him home." In a statement shared on her Instagram page, Amy described the situation as "sudden and devastating," noting that they never imagined such a tragedy could happen to them.

She wrote, "Time is critical, and every moment matters in ensuring he continues to receive the care he desperately needs and in getting his loved ones to his side. It is incredibly humbling and difficult to have to ask others for financial help, something we never thought we would need to do. But right now, our only focus is doing everything possible to support him and give him the best chance to keep fighting."

Any funds raised through the campaign will be directed toward Zak's mounting medical bills, as well as urgent travel expenses for Amy and other family members to be with him during this challenging period. The family has assured that every donation, regardless of size, will make a meaningful difference in providing Zak with the necessary support and care he requires for his recovery.
