Rapper Chika's $5,000 Luggage Damaged on Delta Flight, Sparks Fury

Critically-acclaimed rapper Chika has unleashed a furious social media tirade after discovering her expensive luggage was severely damaged during a Delta Airlines flight. The musician, whose real name is Jane Chika Oranika, posted images of her cracked Rimowa suitcases online, estimating the total cost of her collection at approximately $5,000.

Social Media Outburst Over Damaged Baggage

In a strongly-worded Threads post, Chika accused Delta of employing what she described as "mouth-breathing, knuckle-dragging neanderthals who don't know how to be gentle with people's belongings unless they are specifically instructed not to mindlessly throw them around." The 29-year-old artist, who boasts 1.4 million monthly listeners on Spotify, explained she had purchased the baby blue suitcases just last September.

This incident marks the second time Chika has experienced luggage damage while flying with Delta. She revealed that her sage green luggage from the same premium brand had previously been damaged during another flight with the airline. The recurring problem has significantly escalated her frustration with the carrier's baggage handling practices.

Vowing to Escalate Customer Service Complaint

Chika has declared her intention to formally escalate the matter with Delta's customer service department, particularly because the damaged suitcases are no longer in production by Rimowa. In her emotional response, she stated, "I hate everybody who works for them and this time I'm escalating it. I'm about to run y'all's pockets because I can't even replace this bag."

The rapper continued her venting through an expletive-filled Instagram story, where she captioned a post with "somebody gotta just start shooting these people," expressing her extreme displeasure with how her belongings were treated. She emphasized, "You broke my luggage, I just got that. It's not heavy, they just cracked it. And they don't even make that suitcase anymore. I just got rid of my other ones that they broke, both of them."

Background on the Grammy-Nominated Artist

Chika, originally from Montgomery, Alabama, first gained widespread attention through viral song remixes she shared on social media platforms. Her career breakthrough came in April 2018 when she freestyled over Kanye West's "Jesus Walks" beat, criticizing the rapper for his unconventional views and support of former President Donald Trump.

Following a performance on Jimmy Kimmel Live!, Chika secured a recording contract with Warner Records in June 2019. Her talent was recognized with a Best New Artist Grammy nomination in 2020, placing her among prestigious past nominees including Drake, Nicki Minaj, Kendrick Lamar, Bruno Mars, and Ed Sheeran. To date, Chika has released three studio albums, with her most recent work, WISH YOU WERE (T)HERE, arriving in November 2025.

The luggage damage incident has highlighted ongoing concerns about airline baggage handling procedures and customer service responsiveness in the travel industry. Chika's very public complaint adds to a growing number of passenger grievances regarding damaged personal property during air travel, particularly involving high-value items.
