MSC Cruises Unveils Major 2027 Upgrades for Ocean Cay Bahamas Island
MSC Cruises Upgrades Ocean Cay Bahamas Island for 2027

MSC Cruises has revealed ambitious plans for a comprehensive upgrade of its private Ocean Cay Marine Reserve in the Bahamas, with a host of new features scheduled for completion by late 2027. The enhancements aim to elevate the guest experience on the island, which first opened in 2019 and is a popular stop on Caribbean sailings, including voyages aboard ships like MSC World America.

Expanded Dining and Leisure Options

Passengers can anticipate a significant expansion of dining and recreational facilities across the two-mile beachfront. Four new dining experiences will be introduced, bringing the total number of venues to seven. These additions will include a signature specialty restaurant alongside new buffet and food market options, complementing existing amenities such as the Seakers Food Court and various food trucks.

Family and Adult-Only Zones

The development will feature dedicated areas tailored to different guest preferences. Seakers Cove Family Beach will undergo a transformation with a new kid’s playground, splashpad, and a ropes course incorporating water elements. Families can also enjoy ping-pong, foosball, and interactive tournaments.

For adults seeking a more tranquil retreat, Paradise Sands will offer an exclusive space to relax by day and enjoy cocktails at sunset. Additionally, more cabanas will be installed across the island to enhance comfort and privacy.

Marine Conservation and Future Developments

Beyond leisure, MSC Cruises is emphasising its conservation commitment through the new MSC Foundation “Shifting Perspective” Experience. This initiative will provide immersive, hands-on activities focused on coral restoration, scientific discovery, and ocean ecosystem exploration.

Furthermore, work is progressing on a second private island destination adjacent to Ocean Cay, internally referred to as Little Cay. This new island will align with Ocean Cay’s ethos, offering pristine beaches, luxury facilities, and water features that connect guests with nature.

The upgrades also include an extended pier to accommodate two cruise ships simultaneously, ensuring smoother access for the growing fleet. With these developments, MSC Cruises continues to invest in creating a unique and enriching destination for its passengers.
