Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings Announces Four New Luxury and Family Ships
Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings Unveils Four New Ships

Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings has unveiled plans for the construction of four new cruise ships, set to enhance passenger choice across its luxury and family-focused brands. The vessels, being built by Italian shipyard Fincantieri, are scheduled for delivery between 2036 and 2037, marking a significant expansion in the company's fleet.

Expanding Fleet Across Brands

The new ships will be added to Norwegian Cruise Line, Oceania Cruises, and Regent Seven Seas, with each vessel serving as a sister ship to upcoming launches from these cruise lines. This strategic move aims to cater to diverse passenger preferences, from intimate luxury experiences to larger family-oriented voyages.

Oceania Cruises' Culinary Focus

For Oceania Cruises, known for its culinary emphasis, the new ship will have a gross tonnage of 86,000 tons and a capacity for approximately 1,390 passengers. It will be a sister ship to the Oceania Sonata, which is set to debut in August 2027 with a Mediterranean season. This inaugural cruise will depart from Rome, featuring stops in Catania, Italy; Valletta, Malta; Katakolon, Greece; Bar, Montenegro; and Zadar, Croatia.

Regent Seven Seas' Luxury Addition

Regent Seven Seas will receive a new vessel with a gross tonnage of 77,000 tons and around 822 cabins, making it the fourth in the Prestige class. This ship will be a sister to the Seven Seas Prestige, which is scheduled for its maiden voyage in December 2026, sailing from Barcelona to Miami, offering passengers a premium luxury experience.

Norwegian Cruise Line's Megaship Plans

Norwegian Cruise Line is further expanding its fleet with a new megaship, adding to its previously announced plans for five vessels as part of its largest-ever class from 2030. Under the latest agreement, this fifth ship will have a gross tonnage of approximately 227,000 tons and capacity for over 5,000 guests. This development complements the ongoing Prima Plus class, which includes the Norwegian Luna launching this year and the Norwegian Aura in 2027.

Overall Fleet Growth

With these additions, there are now 17 new cruise ships on order across the three brands: eight for Norwegian Cruise Line, five for Oceania Cruises, and four for Regent Seven Seas. This represents a disciplined approach to fleet growth, as highlighted by John W. Chidsey, chief executive of Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings.

Chidsey stated, "Together with Fincantieri, a trusted partner for decades, we continue to advance a disciplined approach to fleet growth that builds on the strength of our brands, defines the future of cruising, and elevates the guest experience for years to come." This expansion underscores the company's commitment to innovation and enhancing passenger offerings in the competitive cruise industry.
