PortAventura World Unveils Two Major New Family Attractions for 2026 Summer Season
PortAventura Announces New Family Attractions for 2026

One of Europe's premier theme park destinations, PortAventura World, has announced significant expansion plans with two major new family experiences set to debut in time for the 2026 summer season. The Spanish resort, located approximately 2.5 hours from the UK and immensely popular with British holidaymakers, will enhance its already impressive offerings with these substantial additions.

Expanding an Already Vast Entertainment Destination

PortAventura World represents one of the largest theme park complexes in Europe, comprising three distinct entertainment zones: the main PortAventura Park with its six themed worlds, the separate Ferrari Land dedicated to the luxury automotive brand, and the expansive PortAventura Caribe Aquatic Park water attraction. Situated near the popular coastal town of Salou and just 90 minutes from Barcelona, the resort has become a favourite destination for UK tourists, particularly during the summer months when multiple airlines operate seasonal flights to nearby Reus Airport.

Coral Bay: The Lost Legend

The first major addition will transform the Caribe Aquatic Park with a completely new 6,000 square metre family area called Coral Bay: The Lost Legend. This pirate-themed zone, designed to resemble a bay that has emerged from the ocean depths, promises to deliver unique aquatic entertainment for visitors of all ages.

The centrepiece of Coral Bay will be an innovative water coaster that PortAventura claims will feature a unique twist never before seen in Europe. This groundbreaking attraction will be complemented by an adventure pool complete with an obstacle course specifically designed for younger visitors, additional waterslides, and new food and beverage outlets to enhance the overall visitor experience.

Makamanu Jungle: The Adventure Trek

The second major development, Makamanu Jungle: The Adventure Trek, will be integrated into the existing Polynesia area of PortAventura Park. This immersive attraction will transport guests deep into a simulated jungle environment featuring secret walkways, hanging bridges, and various obstacles and challenges designed to engage both children and their accompanying adults.

This new adventure park will complement existing Polynesian-themed attractions including the popular Tutuki Splash water ride, known for its refreshing finale, and Kontiki, a pirate ship-style ride with distinctive Tiki theming. The addition promises to significantly enhance the thematic depth and experiential variety within this section of the park.

Accommodation and Resort Experience

For visitors planning extended stays, PortAventura World offers six on-site hotels providing convenient access to the parks. The four-star Hotel PortAventura remains particularly popular, offering direct entrance to the park's Mediterrània area, home to Europe's fastest rollercoaster, Furius Baco. Themed as a charming Mediterranean village, this hotel features its own swimming pool, games room, and entertainment facilities, with flexible dining options including half- and full-board arrangements.

Another notable accommodation option is the Hotel Gold River, designed to resemble a Wild West town and located near the park's cowboy-themed Far West area. This establishment boasts its own saloon, an upmarket Victorian-style restaurant, and three seasonal swimming pools, providing guests with thematic immersion and relaxation opportunities after busy park days.

PortAventura has confirmed that both new attractions will open to the public by summer 2026, though specific opening dates remain to be announced. These developments represent significant investment in the resort's family offerings, ensuring PortAventura World maintains its position as one of Europe's leading theme park destinations for UK holidaymakers seeking memorable summer experiences.
