Aldi has announced plans to stock sweeter British-grown blackberries in its stores nationwide from this month. The budget supermarket is working closely with suppliers including Driscoll's to introduce varieties bred for enhanced sweetness and less tartness. Aldi expects blackberry sales to surge by up to 20% this season.
Commitment to British Produce
All fresh blackberries at Aldi will be 100% British-grown, supporting local farmers and ensuring peak ripeness for consistent flavour. The berries are taste-tested throughout the season to guarantee quality.
Rollout Timeline
The rollout begins in selected stores from early May, with full nationwide availability by May 21. Julie Ashfield, chief commercial officer at Aldi UK, said: "We expect our blackberries to taste better than ever this season."
This initiative is part of Aldi's broader commitment to increase long-term partnerships with UK producers by 2027.
