Commuters are facing significant disruption this morning as trains to and from London Waterloo are being cancelled, delayed, or revised. South Western Railway (SWR) has reported that an issue with communication systems at the station is affecting services across all routes.
Communication System Failure Causes Widespread Chaos
The operator stated: 'Train services running to and from this station may be cancelled, delayed or revised. Disruption is expected until 12:00 07/05.' The problem involves communications between trains and signallers, impacting the entire SWR network.
Passengers are advised to check their journey updates and allow extra travel time. Alternative routes via other London terminals or local bus services may be considered.
What South Western Railway Said
In a statement, SWR said: 'We have been made aware of an issue that is affecting communications between trains and signallers. This is affecting trains across the SWR network.' The company apologised for the inconvenience and urged commuters to seek real-time information through their website or app.
This disruption adds to ongoing frustrations for rail users, with many calling for improved infrastructure investment to prevent such failures.
