Surrey Police have launched a murder investigation after the body of a three-year-old girl was discovered at a property on Pyrcroft Road in Chertsey. Officers were called to the address at approximately 5:40 PM on 25 June following reports of a concern for safety. Upon arrival, they found the child deceased inside the home.
Arrest and Hospitalisation
A 31-year-old man was arrested at the scene on suspicion of murder. He was found with a serious injury and was taken to hospital for treatment. Police confirmed he will be taken into custody once medically cleared.
A Surrey Police spokesperson stated: "A 31-year-old man was arrested at the address on suspicion of murder. He was taken to hospital with a serious injury and will be taken into custody once he has been treated."
Family Setting and Public Safety
Investigators believe the incident occurred within a family setting and are not seeking any other individuals in connection with the death. The Major Crime Team of Surrey Police is leading the investigation to determine the circumstances surrounding the girl's death.
The Senior Investigating Officer from the Major Crime Team said: "This is a tragic incident, and our officers are working hard to build a picture of what happened. We have made an arrest in connection with this incident and at this stage, we are not looking to identify anyone else in connection with our investigation. We have no reason to believe there is any risk to the public."
