Teenager Critically Injured in Huyton Street Shooting
A 19-year-old man is fighting for his life in hospital after a shooting on a residential street in Huyton on Friday night. Emergency services, including police and ambulance crews, were called to Manley Road at around 8.50pm on November 7 following reports that a man had sustained gunshot injuries outside a property.
Police Launch Urgent Investigation
The victim received immediate medical attention at the scene before being rushed to hospital, where he remains in a critical condition. A police cordon was immediately established on Manley Road as officers began a thorough investigation. This includes conducting door-to-door enquiries and scouring local CCTV footage for any evidence that could lead to the perpetrators.
Detectives are urgently appealing for witnesses to come forward. Chief Inspector Andy Hughes stated: "We are still in the very early stages of an investigation and we are determined to find the person or people responsible." He added that the community would be "utterly appalled" by the incident and reassured residents that police are taking it extremely seriously.
Appeal for Public Assistance
Chief Inspector Hughes made a direct plea to the public for information. "This is a residential area and there will be people who may have witnessed the incident," he said. "I urge those people to tell us what you know. Also, if you have CCTV or dashcam footage, please let us know if you captured anything. Even the smallest of details could prove vital in our investigation."
He emphasised that information from the public is crucial to help break down organised crime groups and urged anyone with information to come forward as a matter of urgency. The investigation continues as police work to establish the full circumstances surrounding the shooting.
