ITV's latest true crime drama, Believe Me, premieres tonight, but the series was not filmed where you might expect. The four-part drama delves into the story of John Worboys' victims as they fight for justice after the Metropolitan Police failed to thoroughly investigate their allegations. While the show is set in London, with some elements shot in the capital for the first episode, the majority of filming took place across Wales.
Key Filming Locations in Wales
Supported by the Welsh Government through Creative Wales, scenes were filmed in Cardiff, Swansea, Port Talbot, Penarth, Newport, and at Dragon Studios in Bridgend. Cardiff University's DTI and Canteen Block in the Heath Park West campus served as the interior of Holloway Police Station, as well as the Haven Medical Centre. The same campus was also used for the exterior of black cab scenes, Sarah's law firm (played by Aimee-Ffion Edwards), and interview rooms. Additionally, the university's main building doubled as the Royal Courts of Justice.
Brangwyn Hall in Swansea played a significant role, standing in for HM Prison Wakefield and Doughty Street Chambers. This venue is no stranger to filming, having also appeared in the 2025 Netflix thriller Havoc, Doctor Who, and the 2019 Channel 4 series The Accident.
Newport's Kingsway Shopping Centre loading bay was transformed into a crime scene, while several Newport streets, including High Street, Stow Hill, and Bridge Street, doubled as outdoor London locations.
Why Wales Was Chosen
Creator Jeff Pope explained that Wales was selected for filming due to its excellent facilities and infrastructure. Director Julia Ford, who had previously filmed in Wales, was familiar with locations that could convincingly double as London. Additionally, actress Aimee-Ffion Edwards, who portrays Sarah, lives in Newport, making the location convenient.
