A mother in Salford has launched a formal complaint against Greater Manchester Police after her 13-year-old son was knocked from his e-bike by an unmarked police vehicle. The incident, captured on CCTV, has left the teenager 'traumatised' and sparked serious questions about police tactics.
CCTV Footage Captures Shocking Collision
The incident occurred on Tuesday, January 13, 2026, as Junior Moran was riding home from MMA training along Hilton Lane in Little Hulton. CCTV footage from a local residence shows the moment the teenager was struck. An unmarked Greater Manchester Police car is seen being driven directly at the boy, sending him over the bonnet and tumbling onto the pavement.
Prior to the collision, the footage shows a police officer approaching Junior on foot, after which the boy begins to ride away. The dramatic video then shows the vehicle making contact with the e-bike. The teenager, who was initially detained, can be heard pleading with officers, saying, "I've not done nowt." He was released minutes later.
Mother Condemns Police Actions
Junior's mother, Jayne, has fiercely criticised the police's conduct. She stated that her son did not realise the men were police officers, claiming "he would've spoken to them and gone over" if he had known. Jayne reported that the impact left her son 'stumbling and dizzy' and that the event has had a profound psychological effect, leaving him 'traumatised'.
A formal complaint has been submitted to Greater Manchester Police regarding the actions of the officers involved. The family is seeking answers about the justification for using a vehicle in such a manner against a child on an e-bike.
Ongoing Investigation and Public Concern
This case raises significant concerns about police procedures, particularly the use of unmarked vehicles and the level of force deemed acceptable during interactions with young people. The release of the CCTV footage has brought the incident into the public domain, prompting calls for a transparent investigation.
Greater Manchester Police have confirmed they are aware of the complaint and the footage. The force is expected to conduct a full review of the incident, which will scrutinise whether the officers' actions followed correct protocol and were proportionate to the situation.
