A fire at Franco's fish and chip shop on Aberavon seafront in Port Talbot forced customers and staff to evacuate on Saturday morning, July 4. The blaze started around 11am when a fryer pan caught fire, spreading to the extraction system. Staff quickly evacuated everyone before fire crews arrived.

A spokesperson for Franco's confirmed that no customers or staff were injured. The fire caused damage to equipment, leading to the closure of the takeaway for repairs. The restaurant aims to reopen for lunch on Sunday, July 5, with a further update expected in the morning.
