Paul Seed: Artist and Actor Remembered

Paul Seed, a talented artist and actor who studied at Manchester grammar school, has died. He took leading roles in school plays and helped elevate art to A-level status.

Early Life and Education

While at Manchester grammar school, Paul Seed took leading roles in dramatic society productions, including Harold Brighouse's Hobson's Choice and Arnold Wesker's Chips With Everything. A talented artist, he designed school publications, also contributing illustrations, cartoons and hand lettering.

Advocacy for Arts Education

With fellow pupil Stephen Benson, he helped persuade the school to promote art (with art history and architecture) to the sixth form curriculum and to the status of an A-level subject. This effort ensured that future students could pursue their artistic passions academically.
