Romeo Beckham is eyeing a permanent move to Los Angeles as he pursues his acting dream. The 23-year-old, who previously lived in the US when his father David played for LA Galaxy, has already shot his debut film Forty Love.
Brother Reveals Plans
In a YouTube tour diary for his band, Romeo's brother Cruz let slip the plans, saying: “I know you want to live in LA so I hope that can happen.” A move to Hollywood would make sense as Romeo sets his sights on other movie projects, and it would also place him in the same city as his estranged brother Brooklyn, whose wife Nicola is also an actor.
Debut Film Details
Romeo's acting debut was announced earlier this week. Directed by renowned fashion photographer Pierre-Ange Carlotti, Forty Love centres on Sacha Gallo, a tennis superstar training with his father to win a major trophy. Romeo plays a fellow player who enters the scene, and the pair fall in love. The synopsis reads: “For the first time, he faces an opponent of an entirely different nature - love. A force as exhilarating as it is destabilizing - and far more dangerous than anything he has encountered on the court.”
He stars opposite Paul Kircher, Guillaume Canet, and Benjamin Voisin, with an appearance from Catherine Deneuve.
Family Acting Background
Father David Beckham has also tried his hand at acting, with a cameo in Guy Ritchie's Knights of the Roundtable: King Arthur several years ago. At the time, he said: “I am very aware that many sportsmen and other celebrities have turned their hand to acting and failed. I know it is a tough profession, where you need a huge amount of skill and discipline. I wouldn’t want to push myself forward too soon, without learning more about it and doing a lot more practice. But what I have done so far, I have loved. I can deal with most things. I am a well-known person, so I have gotten used to criticism. It was nerve-racking delivering the lines, but it actually went really well. The thing about sport is that it gets the heart beating faster. You focus the mind in order to deliver. Acting has a similar feel.”
