Olympic swimming champion Adam Peaty's mother, Caroline Peaty, has celebrated her milestone 60th birthday without her son, just days before he is set to marry Holly Ramsay in a ceremony from which she has been barred.
A Birthday Overshadowed by Family Estrangement
Caroline Peaty marked her 60th birthday on Thursday, sharing tributes from family members on Instagram. However, a message from her son, the three-time Olympic gold medallist, was conspicuously absent from the display. Among the posts was a card addressed to 'mom' from 'the Peaty family,' indicating Adam Peaty has not publicly acknowledged her personal milestone.
The emotional birthday comes less than a week before Adam Peaty is due to marry Gordon Ramsay's daughter, Holly, on December 27. The lavish wedding is scheduled to take place at Bath's Abbey Church of Saint Peter and Saint Paul, followed by a reception at the Kiln House country estate in Wiltshire.
The Escalating Row and Wedding Ban
The public fallout between Peaty and his mother began in November, when Caroline was not invited to Holly Ramsay's hen party. The situation has since deteriorated, resulting in Caroline being barred from attending the wedding service entirely.
In a poignant Instagram post on Monday, Caroline admitted the last year had been among the most difficult of her life, stating she had met "the most broken version of myself but also the strongest." She vowed to bounce back, writing: "2026, get ready, because I'm coming back stronger than ever."
This starkly contrasted with social media updates from her estranged son, who recently posted shirtless pictures with his fiancée, marvelling that there were "less than two weeks until we’re getting married."
Netflix Documentary Sparks Legal Threat
Amid the personal turmoil, a new conflict has emerged over a Netflix documentary. Caroline and her husband, Mark, have sent a 'cease and desist' letter to the streaming giant, demanding to be removed from Gordon Ramsay's upcoming series, 'Being Gordon Ramsay'.
A family source revealed Caroline does not want Gordon Ramsay's family, which now includes her son, "cashing in on their misery." The dispute centres on footage filmed at Adam and Holly's engagement party last year. Caroline claims the family did not consent to be filmed, though a spokesperson for the Ramsay family stated filming notices were displayed and that the Peaty family are not featured in the finished edits.
The insider added that the family fallout and wedding ban are expected to feature prominently in the documentary, which the celebrity chef is said to be "very excited about."
As the wedding date approaches, the rift within the Peaty family shows no signs of healing, casting a shadow over what was intended to be a celebratory Christmas union.
